Basically they are incompetent to handle the volume of business which the NBN changeover has generated for them. Their phones and internet contacts are flooded throughout business hours so that you cannot get through on the phone - ever.

(4 separate numbers on the web site - all engaged all the time) Even their chat line is overloaded. They do not ring back even though they have a stated policy of returning calls within 2 days. For 5 weeks we have been waiting for our home phone to be re-connected. It took 10 days to move from Telstra ADSL2+ to NBN through SP.

They have changed our fixed line number apparently but we still don't know for sure and have no idea what the new number might be as THEY DON'T CALL US!. A joke really

I have been with Southern phone for several years, no problems. A week after I was switched over to the nbn my landline went dead.

After several email they told me that it looked like "the modem had lost the settings to support the landline." The had a link attached to this email that led me to a site called TeamViewer (whose mysteries I am yet to solve). This site kept asking for a "partner ID," not knowing what that was I asked them. No answer. After several weeks my landline is still down!

I have called them several times and because of wait times of nearly an hour I left a call-back. Not one of them were returned. I have had email from a Jack, a Matthew and a Jessica and still no resolution. Two days ago informed that that In case they emailed the next day, I would be away until late the next.

I came back to find several rather terse email saying the since they hadn't heard from me "for awhile" they understood the problem to be resolved! I had been away a day! Disdainful and dismissive to say the least! They just don't care or are so completely lazy that actual work is an intrusion!

They did suggest their chat line, but when I tried to click on the Chat Now link, it wouldn't respond. Switched off I guess, probably due to a huge surge of angry, disgruntled customers. The various email I have received from at least three different support staff are so out of sync with each other, appears that the left hand definitely didn't know what the right one was doing. I'd say that the latter highlights this company's own lack of internal communication.

Anyway, now I have to look forward to yet another day of either trying to talk to someone on the phone; or visiting their chat line (if it responds this time), or trying to solve the mysteries of their TeamViewer. Conclusion.

It was THEIR nbn modem that caused the shut down of my landline and thus it is THEIR RESONSIBILITY to fix the damned thing, or send me new one! If neither, I will break the contract, which I have resolved to do if this FARCE continues more than another day.

I've experienced same problem here I leav a message and some guy sends me an email and says first can I have your name and DOB lol
